Restoring Full Frequency Range of the Radio Shack PRO-2032 Scanner
The standard Radio Shack PRO-2032 scanner has reception of 823.975 MHZ through 851 MHZ and 868.9375 MHZ through 896 MHZ blocked. The following simple modification will restore the full 806 MHZ through 960 MHZ range with no gaps.
Procedure

Remove top cover. Cut JM69 in the center. Cut D35 anode (on the side of the board by JM69) leaving a long enough lead on D35 to solder. Solder a small wire between the cut anode lead on D35 and the half of the cut JM69 closest to the front of the scanner. That it, you have completed the modification. The scanner will now allow you to enter frequencies between 823.975 MHZ and 851 MHZ. It will also allow you to enter frequencies between 868.9375 MHZ and 896 MHZ. It also selects the correct frequency spacing and modulation type within the previously blocked range. click on the image to magnify it |

The PRO-2032 has 2 surface mount diode (D29 & D30) packs which configure it for various options. These diodes are wired as a row extention of the keypad matrix. The diodes on this extra row to look simular to switch closures for options. At power up, the extra keypad row is scanned to determine which options are to be enabled.
